Whole-body Protected
Corrosion-proof Sucker Rod

As oilfields age, corrosion tends to worsen, leading to frequent rod failures and operational disruptions. To address this, DS and HS grade sucker rods with less than 2% nickel content were introduced around 1980s. While these products can be effective in mildly corrosive environments, they often fall short under more severe conditions, resulting in short run times and requiring frequent replacements — either during routine maintenance or after fishing operations if a break occurs.

To address this issue, SANHE developed two products with complete corrosion-proof prection over the entire rod body. SANHE's HN rod's entire body is covered with a nickel-rich surface layer. The HP rod is similar to HN, also has spray metal covering the two ends, but with HDPE sleeve covering the middle section for cost savings.

Both HN and HP rod can perform in extreme corrosive environment. HP can be used in wells under 85C or 185F, while HN can operate in any temperature.

Corrosive Test Passed
  • H2S - 4MPa; CO2 - 3MPa; Temp - 140°C; 168hrs
  • SO4 2- 9605 mg/L; HCO3 - 2258 mg/L; Cl- - 86758 mg/L; 168 hrs
  • Brine Saturated, boiling

Quenching & Tempering
Heat Treatment

While most sucker rods on the market heat treat in a normalizing and tempering process, SANHE's main products are heat treated in a quenching and tempering process (Q&T). This process creates interlocking martensitic grains internally. Compared to the pearlite / ferrite grain structures produced by the N&T process, it allows for significantly better fatigue resistance, especially in corrosive environment.

The quenching and tempering (Q&T) process produces superior products, but it requires meticulous control to ensure optimal results. With 20+ years of experience in Q&T, SANHE has perfected this manufacturing process. Our DS product has consistently proven to outperform other products, even in the most challenging well conditions.

Coated & Lined Tubing

To address the challenges of corrosion and abrasion in wells, SANHE has developed a range of tubing products specifically tailored to suit various well conditions. Whether your operations face corrosion from H₂S, CO₂, or saline environments, or abrasion from sand, proppant, or coal dust, SANHE provides reliable solutions.

Our specialty tubing products feature advanced protective layers that shield the base metal from corrosive elements, enhance surface hardness, reduce friction, and significantly extend the tubing's service life.

Suitable Corrosive Agents
  • H2S
  • CO2
  • Brine
Suitable Applications
  • Oil wells
  • PCP water wells
  • Water injection wells

Induction Case Hardening

Induction Case Hardening (ICH) is a highly effective heat treatment process that significantly enhances performance by creating a hardened martensite surface layer during an additional induction heating stage after the initial quenching. This results in improved tensile strength, maximum torque, and fatigue resistance.

Although ICH is widely used, its application to sucker rod production presents unique challenges due to the shape variations at both ends. SANHE has developed a dependable manufacturing process that ensures an evenly distributed ICH layer across the entire rod body. Additionally, newly acquired equipment at SANHE's new factory has further increased efficiency, improved quality, and ensured the consistent availability of the HY product line.

Sucker Rod Guides / Centralizers

Rod guides, molded directly onto the sucker rod body, play a crucial role in preventing abrasion and minimizing wear on downhole equipment such as sucker rods, couplings, and tubing. Additionally, specially designed rod guides help prevent paraffin buildup inside the tubing, ensuring smoother operations.

SANHE has developed a range of sucker rod guide products tailored to standard production wells and specialized conditions. Each rod guide is meticulously designed with a unique shape and material selection, taking into account factors such as abrasion resistance, hydrodynamic drag, operating temperature, and performance in corrosive environments.

Molded rod guides are integrated during the sucker rod manufacturing process. A rigorous quality control program ensures that every rod guide meets the required specifications.

Suitable Applications
  • Deviated unconventional wells
  • PCP wells
  • Paraffin-laden wells
